Австрийская почтовая служба — одна из старейших в мире. И на протяжении большей части своей истории она была государственной. Postal services in Austria

Now, Austrian Post – or its official name, Österreichische Post AG – is a multifaceted organization. Because of this, the company has several segments and subsidiaries, including the following: 

• Austrian Post – the official mail division which offers philately, sorting and mail delivery, and some newspaper and regional media distribution
• Parcel & Logistics – this division deals with the mailing and delivery of parcels and express mail, as well as specialized logistics for freight, pharmaceutical, and temperature-controlled logistics
• Corporate – this section deals with commercial properties owned by Austrian Post, IT support, and administrative activities for the company 
• Bank99 – this is a credit institution run by Austrian Post offering online services and 1,800 service points throughout the country. It offers a range of financial services – especially in rural areas – including bank accounts, international money transfers, and credit cards. 
• Austrian Postal Savings Bank (or Österreichisches Postsparkasse) – this is the company’s retail banking division

The postal services can be divided into several categories. The state-run Austrian Post has a total monopoly on local mail weighing up to 50 grams and is required to provide universal services nationwide; this includes the delivery of letters, newspapers, and parcels up to 20kgs. However, due to the increasing liberalization of the sector, private companies can offer a multitude of other postal services; as well as parcel delivery and mail to foreign destinations. As such, there are many courier services operating in Austria, including GLS, UPS, TNT, DPD, DHL, and FedEx.

• Rx123456789DE – мелкие пакеты массой до 2 кг,
• Cx123456789DE – посылки массой от 2 до 20 кг,
• Ex123456789DE – посылки массой свыше 20 кг (до 31,5).

Отслеживать движение МПО из Германии можно на официальном сайте Deutsche Post / DHL, где в поле строки Sendungsnummer необходимо ввести 12-значный внутренний номер Почты Германии и нажать кнопку «Suchen».

На следующей странице Вы увидите, что в строке UPU Code (номер Всемирного Почтового Союза) после экспорта из Германии появился трэк-номер в международном формате. Также на этой странице доступна информация о способе доставки, деталировке движения посылки и возможность узнать имя адресата.

Для мелких пакетов Global Mail Packet Standart и Priority присваивается трэк-номер вида GM12345678901234567, отслеживаемый на странице сайта DHL Global mail. К сожалению, отслеживать такие мелкие пакеты бывает возможно только до момента экспорта из страны отправителя МПО, но как известно, эти МПО проходят транзитом через Германию, где они нередко передаются партнерам по доставке в конечную точку маршрута. Этими партнерами может быть и Почта России / EMS, украинский Росан и т.  п. В этом случае на этапе транзита через Германию, Вы можете увидеть уведомление о присвоении внутреннего 12-значного номера отслеживания под надписью Delivery Partner. Этот номер необходимо использовать для отслеживания по инструкции, приведенной выше для Deutsche Post / DHL, т. е. он будет изменен на стандартный трэк-номер вида R(С, E)x123456789DE для отслеживания в системе Track & Trace.

Поиск почты за рубежом

About Universal Postal Union

Prior to the establishment of the UPU, each country had to prepare a separate postal treaty with other nations if it wished to carry international mail to or from them. In some cases, senders would have to calculate postage for each leg of a journey, and find mail forwarders in a third country if there was no direct delivery. To remove this complexity, the United States called for an International Postal Congress in 1863. This led Heinrich von Stephan, Royal Prussian and later German Minister for Posts, to found the Universal Postal Union. It is currently the third oldest international organization after the Rhine Commission and the ITU. The UPU was created in 1874, initially under the name «General Postal Union», under the Treaty of Bern signed on October 9, 1874. Four years later, the name was changed to «Universal Postal Union»

French is the official language of the UPU. English was added as a working language in 1994. The majority of the UPU’s documents and publications – including its flagship magazine, Union Postale – are available in the United Nations’ six official languages (French, English, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish)

Особенности отслеживания посылок

Сервис почтового оператора предоставляет возможность отследить посылку из Австрии. Для этого клиенту следует использовать трек-номер, присваиваемый в отделении Austrian Post любому регистрируемому отправлению.

Данный код нужно ввести в поле, которое появится на любой странице сайта, в том числе и на главной,  после нажатия на кнопку Sendungsverfolgung (Отслеживание).

Типы трек-номеров

Трек-номер представляет собой последовательность из 13 символов, включающую буквы и цифры. Примеры этого кода для отправлений различного типа приведены ниже:

• RA012345678AT – присваивается регистрируемым (первая буква R – registered) мелким пакетам весом до 2 кг.
• CD012345678AT – с буквы C всегда начинается трек-код посылок, вес которых не превышает 20 кг.
• EE012345678AT – первая буква номера отслеживания быстрой доставки всегда E.

Последовательность цифр может быть любой, и она призвана обеспечить уникальность трек-номера. Последние 2 буквы – AT – говорят о том, что страной отправления является Австрия.

Империя (1850-1867) и двойная монархия (1867-1918)

Первый почтовая марка выпуск империи Австрии была серией неперфорированного typographed марок с изображением герба. Сначала они были напечатаны на грубой бумаге ручной работы, но после 1854 года вместо нее стали использовать гладкую бумагу машинного производства . В выпусках между 1858 и 1861 годами использовался профиль императора Франца Иосифа , затем снова был изображен герб в овальной рамке. Sending mail internationally

Austrian Post offers plenty of options for international mail. The company offers three categories of tariffs: the European Union, Rest of Europe, and Rest of World. In addition, you can opt for Priority or Economy services, and although there is only a small price difference, Priority Mail is much faster. That said, your mail must be machine-processable and addresses must be machine-readable. 

Of course, there are many other international mail services available in Austria. If you are sending something important, for example, you can choose signature-on-delivery or tracking services. There are also special parcel services available for wine and military mail. 

Many international courier companies also operate in Austria. Although these are often far more expensive than Austrian Post, they usually offer more secure and much faster delivery services. These companies include:

Austria Post — information about carrier

The first standardized postal service was established in between Innsbruck and Mechelen, Belgium in 1490. By 1563 an extensive system of mail paths existed connecting Vienna with cities in Belgium, France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. In 1722 In Emperor Charles VI made the postal service a federal government monopoly and by the mid-18th century passenger-carrying mail coach service started.

Throughout the 1800s letterboxes, cash orders, cash-on-delivery services were presented and a pneumatic mail system was established in Vienna in 1875.

The first regular global airmail route between Vienna, Kraków and Lviv was developed on March 31, 1918, and terminated on October 15. Three definitive stamps were overprinted «FLUGPOST» for this flight and showed that a routine airmail shipment was practical even during wartime. Many philatelists consider this routine post-delivery with airplanes to be the actual start of airmail history.

Postal codes were presented across the country in 1966.

Because 1986 Österreichische Post started Express mail services and is an EMS Cooperative contracted delivery representative within the UPU.
