The History of China Post

China Post, which is fully named China Post Group Corporation, is a state-owned enterprise that is the official postal service of China. China Post provides its postal services to mainland China.

China Post does not provide services to China’s special administrative regions (SAR) or Hong Kong. China Post also does not provide postal services to Macau. Hong Kong, Macau, and SAR have their own postal service that is independent to the mainland’s.

In 1878, the Customs Post Office of the Qing Empire was created. It was established by Robert Hart, who was a British diplomat and an official in the Qing Chinese government.

The Customs Post Office had five branches that were located in major trading cities, and on March 20, 1896, the Customs Post Office became known as the the Great Qing Post.

In 1911, the Great Qing Post became independent of China’s customs service, and in 1912, the Great Qing Post was renamed as the Chunghwa Post.

In 1929, Chunghwa postal service signed a contract with the China Federal Airways group. This contract made it so that Chunghwa post could transport airmail on three routes: the Shanghai-Hankow route, the Nanjing-Beijing route, and the Hankow-Guangzhou route.

Chunghwa Post then served as the primary postal service provider for Mainland China for two decades. Its function as the main postal service provider for Mainland China ended officially in 1949 when the current official postal service of the People’s Republic of China replaced it.

China Post joined the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1972, and it continues to be a member today. The Universal Postal Union was established in 1874 by the Treaty of Bern, and the UPU organizes the postal policies among member nations.

China Post was formerly administered by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and it is currently supervised by the State Post Bureau of the PRC (People’s Republic of China). The State Post Bureau is the official government agency that is responsible for governing and regulating China’s Postal Services.

The State Post Bureau used to report to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, but it is now under the administration of the Ministry of Transport.

China Post engages in postal business ventures legally, and it is responsible for maintaining and increasing the value of the state-owned assets that it receives to operate.

China Post’s main business scope includes delivering mail both domestically and internationally as well as circulating journals, newspapers, and books. What Should I do if my Parcel Address is Incorrect? Can China Post Change my Address?

Sometimes it happens that an incorrect delivery address is specified when ordering. This happens either simply by mistake, or when there was no error, but you need to change the delivery address to another one due to relocation or other reasons.

China Post can not change the address. Changing the delivery address is only possible if the parcel has not yet been sent by Post Office, but is still physically in the seller’s possession. For this purpose, contact the seller and ask for changes in the address.

What happens if the package goes to the wrong address?

• If the address exists, the parcel will reach the address.
• If such an address does not physically exist, then the mail of the recipient country will simply return it back to China. After returning a package, the China Post will return it to its sender if its details are indicated on the mail.

Что такое трек-номер посылки?

Трек-номер — это уникальный идентификатор. Он предназначен для отслеживания состояния и местоположения посылки. При помощи 100parcels.com можно отследить прибытие отправления в сортировочные центры, прохождение таможенного оформления, а также его получение покупателем.

Отличие номера заказа от номера посылки

Некоторые пользователи путают номер заказа и номер для трекинга отправления. Это совершенно разные вещи. Номер заказа присваивается посылке в магазине. Он позволяет отследить статус товара до его отправки. Номер посылки, то есть трек-код, присваивается перевозчиком при регистрации отправления. Поиск посылки возможен только по трек-номеру.

Форматы трек-номеров

   • LA-LZ  — отправление без регистрации;
   • VA-VZ — обозначение для письма с объявленной ценностью;
   • UA-UZ — отправление, не подлежащее регистрации, но с обязательным прохождением таможенных процедур.
2. 8 цифр, составляющие уникальный номер. По действующим правилам идентификатор не должен повторяться минимум в течение одного года;
3. Девятая цифра является проверочной;
4. Последние буквы указывают на страну, из которой было отправлена посылка. Например, CN — указывает на Китай, DE — на Германию, RU — на Россию.

Рассмотрим в качестве примера трек-номер посылки RF747978306SG:

• Обозначение RF указывает на то, что это мелкое письменное отправление или пакет;
• 74797830 — уникальный цифровой код;
• 6 — проверочная цифра;
• SG — посылка была отправлена из Сингапура.

Еще одни пример — UR911465058CN:

• UR — нерегистрируемая посылка, которая в обязательном порядке должна пройти таможенное оформление;
• 91146505 — уникальный цифровой код;
• 8 — проверочное число;
• CN — указывает на Китай, как страну отправления.

Варианты обозначения типа отправления

Указанный выше формат применим к международным отправлениям. Некоторые почтовые службы и транспортные компании используют собственные обозначения. Так, продавцы с Aliexpress для небольших покупок выдают трек-номера, состоящие только из цифр. Они используют перевозчиков China Post Small Packet.

Depending on where you are located, your China Post package can take 5 to 40 business days to arrive, and sometimes it can take up to two months to arrive.

Дополнительно оплачивается получение кода отправления, так называемого трек-номера (2-3 доллара) и страховка: 1 юань за каждые 100 юаней стоимости, в которую отправитель оценил посылку.

Пересылка экспресс-почтой выйдет дороже. Точную сумму можно получить посредством электронных калькуляторов на сайтах операторов. Ниже перечислены некоторые популярные почтовые службы Китая:

• EMS – инициатор экспресс-службы в Китае. Компания работает с 1980 года, осуществляет перевозку грузов в большинство стран мира.

Еще один фактор, влияющий на задержку, связан с тем, что большинство международных отправлений пересылаются транзитом. К примеру, в Украину посылка может идти через Венгрию или Германию. И это не нарушение правил, а схема, которую регламентирует Почтовый союз, членом которого является и главный китайский почтовый оператор.

Ввиду такого положения вещей многие предпочитают отправлять грузы экспресс-почтой, которая обещает доставку в течение 10-15 дней. Но чаще всего эти прогнозы тоже не сбываются.

What should I do if my China Post tracking status says ‘successfully delivered’ but I didn’t receive it?

First of all, check your P.O Box carefully or ask your friends, families, or neighbors to see if there is anyone who has received the parcel on your behalf upon a China Post delivery.
 

Alternatively, you should contact your sender to confirm that your China Post tracking number is correct, and the receiver’s address is accurate too.

If all goes well, there is a chance that your local courier has delivered your package to the wrong address by mistake or your package was stolen after the courier has delivered to your address. Please report to the courier as soon as possible if your package still can’t be found. If your package is lost, you have the right to ask for another package or request for a refund.

Разбираться на каком из сайтов можно отследить свое почтовое отправление из Китая дело неблагодарное. Те более, что посылка может быть отправлена не только China Post, а одним из «нестандартных способов», т.е. частным перевозчиком. Это также весьма популярный способ доставки на сегодняшний день. Баолай, ZTO, Yanwen Express – и это далеко не все, постоянно появляются новые (как правило вместе с номером для отслеживания продавец присылает и название службы доставки, но не всегда).

А в правом верхнем углу находится ссылка на страницу с расширенной формой, где можно уточнить страну назначения посылки. А также прочитать ответы на наиболее часто задаваемые вопросы. Введите номер, дождитесь пока система определит службу доставки. Уточните страну назначения, если она введена неправильно и нажмите «отследить». Если кнопка неактивна, значит тип трек-номера не распознан. Проверьте его еще раз.

Типичные примеры статусов почтовых отправлений

China Post использует следующие статусы для обозначения этапов прохождения международной посылкой долгого пути к месту назначения:

• Collection – отправление оформлено и принято в почтовом отделении Китая.
• Opening – отправление поступило на сортировочный пункт.
• Dispatching – отправление находится на стадии обработки и подготовки к пересылке за пределы страны.
• Departure from outward office of exchange – таможенное оформление пройдено.
• NULL – обозначение различного рода промежуточных статусов, не переведенных на английский язык. После этой записи в статусе обычно стоит несколько китайских иероглифов. Причина кроется в том, что посылки из Китая проходят внутри страны несколько дополнительных процедур, не принятых в других государствах. Именно поэтому у данных статусов нет перевода на английский язык, и отображаются они только на сайтах китайских сервисов для отслеживания либо в специальных программах – таких, как TrackChecker.

В статусах с обозначением NULL используются также трехбуквенные кодировки, обозначающие название международных аэропортов, в которые доставляются посылки для осуществления их дальнейшей транспортировки. Примеры таких аббревиатур можно легко найти, например,  на сайте.

Последние символы статуса обозначают сокращенное название страны назначения, например: RU – Россия, UA – Украина и т.д.

Если вас смущают иероглифы, и вы хотели бы точно узнать статус отправления, просто воспользуйтесь электронным переводчиком.

Иногда случается, что почтовое отправление уже получило статус, свидетельствующий о его экспорте, однако через некоторое время с помощью функции отслеживания можно увидеть, что оно вновь вернулось на сортировочный пункт. Волноваться в этом случае не стоит, просто посылка не была отправлена в планируемый срок и теперь ожидает следующей почтовой партии.

China Post market share

According to the State Post Bureau, China’s postal industry has a global market share of 20 percent. It also reports that China’s postal industry is the fastest-growing postal market in the world.

This is likely due to the strides the People’s Republic of China has made to optimize and further develop its postal industry.

Still, despite the success of China’s postal industry as a whole, China Post has seen a decrease in its market share because of increasing competition from international courier services such as FedEx, UPS, and DHL Worldwide Express.

It should be noted, however, that China Post continues to maintain its dominance in the postal services market share domestically. It is in the international market where China Post faces heavy competition.

Domestically, China Post has a 90 percent market share in the postal industry. This is because of China’s Postal Law which forbids private and foreign participation in the domestic postal service sector.

China Post is not expected to lose its 90 percent share of China’s domestic postal service industry anytime soon, but its international market share percentage is falling regularly with foreign courier services currently holding over 60 percent of the market shares.

China Post ePacket provides the most economic way to send small packets weighing less than 500g.

It is available for the countries listed below: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, and Poland. 

This option provides an online tracking service with delivery confirmation which takes about 15-30 working days (for international destinations) or a shorter transit time of one to two weeks (domestic).

To ensure that your packet gets delivered you should provide all necessary information required by customs before shipping including packaging content description, sender’s name, address, etc. If not the package will be delayed at the destination country`s postal office until it receives additional clearance from local post office authorities — this may push up delivery times as well.

What is China International Express?
